Community and Charity Events
The Jug is committed to being very much involved within the local and surrounding communities. Established since 2017, as the first and only community Micropub, The Jug engages our customers and works with other local businesses to support matters close to the heart of the Malling community.
The Jug holds regular fundraisers to raise money for Charities, as well as supporting our regular customers and local schools with their fundraisers.
At the bar are collection tins for both the KSS Air Ambulance and the Heart Of Kent Hospice, which we regularly donate to.
The proceeds from our monthly quiz night go to a charity chosen by the previous months winners. We have donated to numerous charities such as Sue Ryder Care, Dandelion Time Children's charity, Alzheimer's UK, Leybourne RSPCA, Bowel Cancer UK and many many more, since 2019.
Joepunzel
In 2020 our regular customer and dear friend Joe Opitz decided he would grow his hair for the entire year to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. Across the year he raised a whopping £13,666. At the jug we held a raffle and auction night, regularly collected donations and finally shaved his head on the 30th October 2021 in our very own beer garden. Thank you to everyone who helped Joe achieve this figure, we are pleased to say the money raised could pay for 450+ hours of specialist nursing care or support.
